A SAMPLING OF BILLS TO BE CONSIDERED BY THE NYS LEGISLATURE
IN 2009

Bills numbers highlighted in yellow passed the assembly and were referred to the State Senate on April 28th.  April 28th, the date the State Assembly Leadership picked to ignore New York State Citizens and Voters  Original vote date was scheduled for the 29th but was changed to the 28th after a gun owners march was organized for the 29th.  This action was an attack on Democracy.

You Can't Fix Stupid Recognition We may disagree with a lot of proposed Bills.  What is listed below, by the fact that it was even introduced, screams of ultimate stupidity.  Be it lack of understanding by the Sponsor or ulterior motives by those that sought the sponsor to introduce such a Bill.  How some of these bills get introduced is beyond me.  Is the legislative process good enough to stop stupid without us pointing it out to our legislators?  This Bill is there so be aware and don't be silent

S03598 Krueger  Increases the age at which a person is allowed to hunt to eighteen.  Increases the age at which a person is allowed to hunt to eighteen from sixteen; requires licensees between 18 and 20 to be accompanied by a parent or other person over 20 when hunting big game; provides that a licensee between the ages of fourteen and sixteen years shall not hunt wildlife with a gun or longbow unless such person is accompanied by his or her parent or legal guardian or relative over the age of twenty-three.  03/25/2009 REFERRED TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Justification
Recent proposals to decrease the hunting age limit is not intended solely to introduce youngsters to this sport. Rather the desire is purely to raise money from the purchase of hunting licenses.  Increases in revenue are needed to maintain the multimillion dollar state fund for fish and
wildlife programs.
Much of the illegal shooting in the state is done by youngsters.  Children need love, positive role models, food, shelter and education. Government should not be in the position of promoting and placing firearms in the hands of children.
Thankfully no same as at this time, but for how long?
