The New York State Conservation Council, is the States oldest, since 1933, Sportsmen's Advocate Group.  Our County Support for this organization is most recognizable through The Oswego County Federation of Sportsmen's Club membership and participation.

Our County Clubs and Sportsmen  can and do also participate in different ways.

The cost of running this state wide organization is more that what is collected in dues.  Other revenues are generated through grants and donations to meet the balance of the NYSCC expenditures.  As you may know the competition for the available grant money is high.  Many grant givers in order to serve the many different causes in need of grants do not give annual grants to the same organizations.  This leads to a fluctuation of annual revenue for the different organization, the NYSCC being one of them. seeking the different grants that may be available. There in lies the problem, last year the New York State Conservation Council lost or had a reduction of $23,000 in grant income.  The council, was not operating ,has  not been operating with a annual surplus so this loss hit us hard.

Solutions

Within Oswego County we have several clubs that already participate in the BAM Program, a few Clubs and private individuals that are also members.  We do as well or better than allot of counties, but we can do allot better.

  1. To think that $312,500 state wide would actually be raised is a bit unrealistic.
  2. To be able to raise $6,250 on our county level would be an accomplishment but it is possible.
  3. To raise $6,250 within Oswego County would actually be easy if all understood what the New York State Conservation Council and its membership is doing for the outdoor sportsmen and conservation and the need for our financial support.

Please study and learn more about the New York State Conservation Council and see if you don't agree that there is a need and they are deserving of your and your sportsmen's club support
