Subject: Keeping the New York State
Conservation Council a strong organization
It's hard to believe than 2006 is nearly over. Where did the year go?
There are many new changes and challenges that the sportsmen and sportswomen of New York will face in 2007.
The most challenging thing right now, is keeping the New York State Conservation Council on stable and firm financial ground. 2006 has not been financially kind to the NYSCC.
About $25,000 in promised grants from other organizations and agencies were withdrawn by them for various reasons. Details can be provided by your request
. Please remember, the NYSCC is the only and largest broad based organization in New York that includes all of the natural resource users, when dealing with issues.
It starts with people like you, who join the clubs. In turn your clubs compose the county federations/organizations. The federations/organizations then compose the NYSCC
This is pure democracy !
There are other
organizations that would like to see the NYSCC close it's doors. These
organizations feel that they can take the place of NYSCC as the leader in New
York's conservation movement.
Please remember, the NYSCC
is the only statewide organization to have a several statutory positions in key
board/agencies that are important to sportsmen and women. These
include the Fish and Wildlife Management Board (FWMB) and the
Conservation Fund Advisory Board (CFAB).
No other organization could
replace the NYSCC in these positions. It's a fact and it's in the law.
2007 will provide many
challenges. Some of the these include but are not limited to:
A new governor, who historically has not been sympathetic to sportsman issues
A new attorney general,
who is already proposing stricter firearms legislation
A new Congress
A Conservation Fund deficit of over 10 million dollars, which could result in a possible fee license increase
A
proposal to make mandatory visible fishing licenses
Getting passage of the
Junior Big Game Hunting package
Unjustly high snowmobile
registration fees for non trail users
The systematic elimination of your right to hunt, fish and trap on public lands
A strong NYSCC is needed to address these issues and be able to keep you informed. This so you can help keep your rights and privileges to responsibly use and enjoy the outdoors of New York.
Not only is your financial support needed. Support of organizations and individuals is also needed to get the job done properly.
Please do not wait. Your help is needed TODAY.
Please don't wait until
after the holidays to support the NYSCC. It will be too late.
Please feel to contact one of us if you have any questions or need anything.

As a little extra help is needed this year, here is how it can be done.
See that your Group’s, (Federation’s, Associate’s and or Affiliate’s) membership for 2007 is renewed in January of 2007.
Support the Buck a Member Program.
Encourage your fellow sportsmen and women to become individual members under the Guardian Membership at $25 or a Defender Membership at $60 a year.
Donations to The NYSCC, to cover our operational cost or designated to our tax deductible educational program fund is another way to help. (At this time our operational cost are in more need of your support than the educational fund.)
Again with a loss of Grants
received, a new administration in
Albany, with at this time is not a completely known agenda as far as
sportsmen’s issues, we need your help both financially and with your active
membership in the NYSCC.
